Job Description
Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Corporate Accounting Department is seeking a staff accountant, focusing on Fixed Assets.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Daily administration of fixed assets, including gaining a thorough understanding of the company’s fixed asset software systems
2. Prepare monthly journal entries, including but not limited to, asset additions and retirements, sales, depreciation, amortization, and adjustment and reclass entries as necessary.
3. Work closely with the other members of Capital/Fixed asset team to become familiar with capital projects, expenditures, and estimated completion date.
4. Prepare the annual budget and quarterly forecasts for depreciation and amortization.
5. Reconcile the fixed asset sub-ledgers to the general ledger monthly.
6. Provide excellent customer service and maintain effective communication with station personnel by responding to requests in a timely manner.
7. Collaborate with the Corporate Tax department to provide the necessary transactional information to maintain the fixed asset Tax books.
8. Respond to audit requests in a timely manner, providing accurate and appropriate supporting schedules and work papers.
9. Complete ad-hoc projects to support the Corporate Accounting team as necessary.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (1-2 years of accounting experience in a Corporate setting or public accounting is ideal)
2. Working knowledge of the general ledger, financial statements, budgets and forecasts, and internal controls
3. Strong aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail
4. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, professional environment
5. Desire and ability to work in a team environment and communicate well with others.
6. Possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
7. Strong Excel skills required; Oracle or BNA experience is a plus.
