This will be a remote role based out of the Banfield Pet Hospital headquarters in Vancouver, WA.
Salary Range: $118,796 - $163,344 (DOE)
Summary and Qualifications:
Ensure the success of the practice through the promotion and protection of the brand by creating, overseeing, and leading campaigns that span external and internal communications, social media, and executive thought leadership strategies.
Lead strategy and engagement within the practice as well as with external social and media partners, creating influence and impact for Banfield's reputation, goals, and initiatives.
Manage cross-functional Corporate Affairs programs to provide project management expertise and drive efficiencies.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Assist with annual budget management, partner contracts and invoicing.
- Work cross-functionally with social media channel owners to define overarching strategy and synergies, maximize shared vendors, align on signature moments to jointly plan and execute, and drive efficiencies where applicable.
- Plan and execute integrated content strategy in support of signature moments and business strategies (i.e., CSR initiatives, major programs like NextVet, Banfield-owned events like Pet Healthcare Industry Summit, data & science thought leadership) as well as the presence of Banfield senior leaders at key business and industry events.
- Other job duties as assigned.
- Develop objectives and own measurement and reporting for social channels, owning metrics for signature moments across Corporate Affairs.
- Manage Corporate Affairs-owned social channels (Banfield LinkedIn, IG: @BanfieldLife), including defining the strategy, developing, and publishing content, and collaborating cross-functionally to find synergies across the practice.
- Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
- Own strategic, creative, content projects and partnerships within Corporate Affairs as well as a range of functions across Banfield and its agency partners.
- Create, execute and drive long-term strategies for external and internal communications, thought leadership, social media, and reputation-lifting initiatives for Banfield Pet Hospital.
- Spearhead science communication to support the practice’s leadership in quality veterinary medicine. Manage the strategy and editorial for BanfieldExchange.com in close partnership with Veterinary Affairs, collaborate across the Petcare ecosystem to strengthen impact, and define amplification strategy.
Special Working Conditions:
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
- Environment where pets are present.
- Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
- The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
- Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
- Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
Experience, Education and/or Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing is required, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience in social media management, digital storytelling, and content creation is required.
- A solid understanding of public and media relations is required, with expertise in developing integrated communications campaigns, crafting executive speeches, conceiving and project managing digital experiences, scripting, and producing videos, designing media assets and more.
- 10 years of experience in Public Relations, Communications, and/or Journalism are required.
- Prior experience in Communications and excellent writing and storytelling skills are required.
