Job Description

The Sr. Manager, Purchasing position exists to lead the Buyer team, and to provide advanced Procurement support and consultative services to Business Leads and senior leadership. To do so will require collaborative work with the BSG (Business Services Group), internal support areas and management. The Sr. Manager will be accountable for the enforcement and carrying out of all purchasing policies and procedures in a manner that reflects professionalism and good stewardship; will provide daily leadership and guidance to the Buyer team by establishing work assignments and priorities, maintaining accurate and thorough documentation, and resolving work related issues.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Works closely with other Business Support Group Sr. Managers to ensure a collaborative and effective working relationship
Provides oversight for purchasing process design/improvement
Provides in-depth metrics analysis of prioritized activities
Is responsible for accurate and timely completion of purchase requisitions
Is responsible for accurate and timely processing of purchase order and vendor files
Ensures that the Preferred Vendor list, for all locations, is current and available
Helps resolve day-to-day work/vendor related issues, including delivery issues and invoice issues
When requested or directed, performs vendor negotiations, evaluates quality, and establishes delivery to meet client needs
Consults trade journals and other materials for new vendors, equipment, and technology
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Coaches and trains Buyers in all purchasing related duties
Assists management in the discovery, recommendation and implementation of new technologies and processes
Understands the workflow process (DocLink) to provide support/maintenance of statuses, approvals, process flows
Pursues on-going continuing education regarding procurement standards, best practices, and industry trends
Oversight of Ministry training on procurement processes
Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
7-10 years of experience in Purchasing
Understanding of Focus on the Family’s mission, philosophy, values, and objectives
Advanced understanding of requisitioning, purchasing, and accounting procedures, establishing vendor schedules and documentation
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Previous experience in coordinating business processes is preferred
Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:

Ability to encourage and motivate personnel
Proficient in use of MS Office software, especially Excel; Great Plains and DocLink experience helpful

Ability to train Buyers in all aspects of Purchasing

Implements cost reduction and efficiency improvements where appropriate
Salary Range: $83,196 to $95,157/yr.
