Job Description
Responsibilities:
: As a Senior GIS Siting Analyst, this role will hold a pivotal position within the GIS team, with a primary focus on identifying optimal locations for wind, solar, and renewable energy projects. This role will involve conducting advanced spatial analysis, leveraging geospatial data, and employing specialized tools to facilitate the site selection process. Additionally, this role will require light project management skills to coordinate and oversee various stages of the siting projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior GIS analysts, fostering their professional growth and skill development.
  • Lead the creation of GIS-based reports and presentations detailing site suitability assessments and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, environmental specialists, and stakeholders to ensure that site selection aligns with regulatory, environmental, and technical criteria.
  • Develop comprehensive maps and visualizations to communicate potential project sites to decision-makers and project stakeholders.
  • Take on light project management responsibilities, including coordinating project timelines, milestones, and task delegation within the GIS team.
  • Utilize advanced GIS techniques to analyze environmental, topographic, and infrastructure data for identifying suitable locations for wind, solar, and renewable energy projects.
  • Employ geospatial tools to assess factors such as solar irradiance, wind speed, land use, proximity to transmission lines, and accessibility.
Qualifications:
Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in GIS analysis with a strong focus on siting for renewable energy projects.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in geospatial analysis techniques for renewable energy project siting, including wind and solar resource assessments.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) and spatial databases.
  • Familiarity with remote sensing data and its integration into GIS analyses.
  • Basic project management skills, including task coordination, milestone tracking, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in web mapping applications such as Esri Portal, ArcGIS Online
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
