What You Will Do:
We are hiring a Specialist in Care Modernization & Experience to join the Case Management and Coding/Documentation Improvement team in Care Modernization & Experience Experience! This is a full-time/fully remote position.

Care Modernization & Experience supports the use of hardware, software, devices, and data across the continuum of care, transforming the way Ascension delivers healthcare to millions. We set the direction for our enterprise in a way that supports the implementation in our markets, collaborating closely with market clinical informatics colleagues to ensure dissemination and recognition of technology value across our system. Areas of responsibility for Care Modernization & Experience focus on providing our stakeholder customers with two distinct capabilities supporting technology investment: core business operations and transformation. Successful efforts in and across these competencies are critical to providing meaningful and relevant clinician and patient experience.

The Specialist, Care Modernization & Experience in Coding and Documentation Improvement (CDI) will be responsible for assigned work supporting the successful implementation of Care Modernization & Experience systems across the continuum of care. This role will support CDI efforts and other priority initiatives as defined and assigned.
  • Manages and communicates risks and mitigation strategies with Clinical Technology Experience teams and leaders, and other critical groups in an ongoing and ad hoc manner
  • Works to ensure that implementation activities, including but not limited to training, awareness, compliance monitoring, and communication, are planned, defined, and utilized to strengthen technology or optimization project success
  • Develops, reports on, monitors, and escalates / drives solutions for operational resilience issues
  • Among a group of cross-functional professional colleagues, collaborate in group decisions related to the identification, analysis, prioritization, design, testing, and implementation of information systems, technology, devices, and clinical applications
  • Identify patterns, trends, variances, and opportunities to improve documentation review processes.
  • Work to determine digital care delivery and operational needs of the clinicians and business associated with CDI; Works to maintain and validate those needs and plans in an ongoing manner supporting the business
  • Act to determine priority capabilities, workflow validation, reporting and analytics needs, and evidence-based practice considerations in support of design and build efforts; Emphasize in work the need to balance enterprise needs with market customizations
  • Works with the responsible stakeholders and end users to drive solutions forward, providing project management/process and organizational knowledge, and high-level technology awareness to technology solutions
  • Engages in efforts to develop approaches associated with design pilot/feasibility studies with teams, internal and external stakeholders, and vendors (when applicable) in support of technology or optimization candidates for development
  • Accept, assign, prioritize, and manage assigned work in compliance with the policy and process of the Clinical Technology Experience team’s capacity and scope of work
  • Accurately capture detailed review results and educational efforts for performance measurement reporting.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of complications, comorbidities, severity of illness, risk of mortality, case mix, secondary diagnosis, and impact of procedures on the final DRG
This job is an individual contributor role, reporting to the Portfolio Director, Case Management, and CDI.
What You Will Need:
Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences:
  • A bachelor’s degree in a clinical, business, or operational discipline is required
  • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methodology for clinical best practice and technology standards; a business-oriented mindset is a must.
  • Work with stakeholders and end-users reviewing current and planned documentation workflows for optimization opportunities and assists with the development of action plans to improve documentation for peer review
  • Familiarity with reporting, including operational, near-time, and real-time capabilities strongly preferred; an understanding of descriptive and predictive analytics is preferred.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and sponsors to ensure technology documentation and data that support the diagnosis and treatment of the patient are timely and accurate
  • Business plan knowledge and expertise will be integral to completing responsibilities for this position; experience in the development, execution, monitoring, and adoption of technology project plans and value analysis is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in the development of scenarios and solutions to complex problems with many constraints and ambiguous goals, using sound judgment to assess risks and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative and presentation format
  • Knowledgeable on technology trends, excited to help craft the future of healthcare
  • The ability to understand and utilize quantitative data and descriptive statistics in support of metrics is strongly preferred
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator, Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) required
  • Strong communication skills are essential
