Job Description
Location: Erie 1 BOCES Career & Technical Education CTE Center Buffalo, NY 14225
Annual Salary: Based on certification and experience*
Hours: 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Erie 1 BOCES is Seeking a Special Education Liaison in CTE for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The liaison will provide instructional assistance to Occupational Special Education (OSE) teachers and students may also be assigned to provide assistance to selected mainstreamed handicapped students and their teachers. This center- based position serves as liaison between Center programs and all publics relative to program placement.
Specified Duties
  • Monitors students' performance.
  • Assists building administration with behavior management and discipline techniques.
  • Assists OSE teachers with IEP interpretation, instructional strategies, teaching techniques, materials, alternative/adaptive curricula, alternative testing, classroom management, etc.
  • Supports Consulting Teacher, VESID Counselor and Work-Based Learning Teacher in their work with Center handicapped students.
  • Recommends program placement of all disabled and special needs students.
  • Serves as Center liaison with all handicapped students' relevant others: special education teachers, counselors, parents/guardians, etc.
  • Provides 'counseling' support for students individually or in groups.
  • Participates in meetings relative to duties, e.g., IEP, Building Teams, etc
Job Qualifications
  • Must hold valid New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education
