You want to be an important member of a strong team of other makers who take pride in their work and support each other. The Software Product Owner will gather feature requests, schedule releases and coordinate sprints. To be successful in this role, the Software Product Owner will be a product expert and need to be able to identify user needs and work with cross-functional teams while crafting the product vision. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Product Planning

Plan and prioritize the product backlog on a regular basis to ensure work focuses on items with maximum value, ensuring there are always an adequate number of stories in the product backlog that meet the definition of Ready prior to planning meetings with development team. (40%)

Guide Collaborative Product Efforts

Hold regular meetings including but not limited to the following. Product Backlog Refinement meetings with the development team prior to sprint planning to improve clarity of requirements of user stories. Sprint Planning meetings with the development team to plan sprint workload, including the collaboration of development tasks and tests. Sprint Review meetings to share sprint goals and review completed work with product stakeholders. Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release and sprint goals. Work with development team and technical writing team to write and manage release notes of completed features. (30%)

Share the Vision

Work closely with Product Management to understand product strategy and vision enabling you to provide the agile development team with clear vision, direction and understanding of the product backlog. (20%)

Leadership

Lead and motivate employees to provide best in class solutions for the product being created to best align their contribution towards the products impact on the overall organizational success by using effective leadership techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Perseverance: Ability to do something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required, preferably in business, IT, computer science, engineering, project management or another technology-focused field, or equivalent experience required.

  • Organization: The ability to arrange resources to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner.

  • 5+ years leading cross-functional teams.
  • Teamwork: Ability to build and sustain cooperative working relationships.

  • Process Management: Ability to manage a repeatable process to improve the outcome of the product.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction and residential home building practices is a plus.
  • Action Oriented: Ability to willingly take practical action to deal with a problem or situation in a timely manner.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify the information needed to solve problems effectively.
  • Delegation: Ability to effectively entrust responsivities to others.
  • 3+ years working in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) product development environment.
  • Communication: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience. Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, team members and customers.

TRAVEL

This job requires 5% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in Boulder, Colorado or remote with availability during core hours of 9am to 4pm MT. Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$78000 - $109500 / year
