Our Director of Social Media will join a recently-formed Digital Media team and will have the opportunity to help scale an innovative startup in the sports media industry. This person will have 10+ years’ experience working with the world’s biggest brands and top-tier talent on market-leading social campaigns. These brands will be leaders in their sectors, driving culture and conversation with social at the center of their strategies.
This hire will be responsible for developing and executing the social media content strategies for TMRW Sports and TGL, and will work with various internal and external partners, including the social leads for each of our six TGL teams. This role is fast-paced, strategic, data driven and focused on execution. It requires excellent people skills, a creative mindset, and an expert understanding of how to create and produce an effective organic social media strategy.
This role is highly collaborative both within the digital media and marketing organization, as well as across other functions in the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of current social media and digital media trends, adjusting TGL strategy accordingly and capitalizing on real-time opportunities
- Collaborate with the Digital Media, Marketing, and Creative teams as well as other key stakeholders to develop a social strategy for TGL and TMRW platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Understand wider business needs across teams (partnerships, venue, marketing, etc) and how social amplification and content creation can support those needs
- Ideate, coordinate and produce social content from direct resources, shared resources, agencies and partners, and develop daily, weekly and monthly content plans across platform
- Oversee the development of social media content calendars for TGL as a league, as well as development and coordination with TGL social leads across our six teams
- Work with the TGL Partnerships team to develop sponsorable social content opportunities
- Establish best-in-class social content strategies across platform and oversee community management
- Create and document best practices for the league and our six teams, as well as social playbooks and how-tos for social & community management, including workflows, tools, and responsibilities
- Work with top talent across category (golf, sport, entertainment, business) to create social content
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- A deep passion for social media and content creation with strong communication skills
- Experience using analytics to monitor and report on the success of social content strategies
- Minimum 10 years of experience in social content creation, planning and strategy across platforms (including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok)
- Demonstrable experience working with top-tier talent on social campaigns
- Experience working in a start-up environment and the sports/entertainment industry is a plus (particularly in golf)
- Strong organizational skills with a mobile/social first mindset
- Available during and ahead of competition hours, which will include evenings and may include weekends
- Experience with social media publishing tools (Sprout Social, Hubspot, etc) and social intelligence tools
- Ability to ideate collaboratively and as an individual, as well as guide creative execution for direct reports, shared resources, agencies and partners.
