Job Description
Job Summary


As an SMSF Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) and providing expert advice to clients on tax, superannuation, and compliance matters. Your primary role will involve ensuring that all SMSFs under your responsibility are fully compliant with relevant legislation and regulations. This includes preparing financial statements, tax returns, and other compliance documents for the SMSFs. You will be responsible for ensuring that all work is completed accurately and within established timeframes.


In addition to managing the SMSF portfolio, you will be expected to provide expert advice on superannuation, tax, and compliance matters to clients. This will require you to keep up-to-date with changes in superannuation and tax legislation to ensure that your clients are always provided with the most accurate and relevant advice.


As an SMSF Accountant, you will also be required to liaise with clients and external stakeholders, including auditors and the ATO. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in effectively communicating complex tax and superannuation matters to clients and stakeholders.


Overall, the SMSF Accountant role is highly specialized and requires a strong understanding of superannuation and tax legislation, as well as excellent technical skills and attention to detail. You will be expected to manage a portfolio of clients and meet deadlines while providing expert advice and excellent customer service.   • Suggest and implement tax minimisation strategies.
  • Prepare and review financial and taxation statements and summaries.
  • Perform an annual audit and compliance check of SMSFs.
  • Ensure that clients are aware of their compliance obligations.
  • Prepare and submit tax returns.
  • Establish or terminate SMSFs for your clients.
  • Liaise with clients and statutory authorities.
  • Set up TFNs, ABNs and Trusts.
  • Process required transactions on behalf of clients.
  • Facilitate SMSF transfers both within and outside the SMSF environment.


Qualifications


  • Experienced in preparing and reviewing and finalizing:
  • Competence in tax software, MYOB and Xero and Handitax and Handiledger and SMSF annual compliance.
  • 3+ years of working as an SMSF Accountant
  • Be able to handle a portfolio of clients
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Strong knowledge of tax legislation
