MSS seeks professionals to join our team supporting a critical humanitarian mission in an emergency management setting. The Site Coordinators will help manage City Respite Centers (temporary congregate shelters for asylum seekers), each serving between 250-500 people. The work will be on-site in NYC—travel reimbursement is authorized. The standard work schedule is four 12-hour shifts, with the potential for additional hours. This is a 24-hour operation so some night shifts will be required.
Site coordinators should have experience managing emergency response or humanitarian relief operations and logistics. Successful candidates will be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders from different departments and agencies, troubleshoot issues and solve problems as they arise, and provide daily site reporting and communications back to agency leadership.
Candidates for the role of Site Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:
- At least seven years of professional experience in emergency management, humanitarian or migrant support coordination, or a related field.
- Experience troubleshooting and escalating issues to leadership as needed.
- Keen attention to detail.
- The desire to help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
- Strong organizational and analytical capabilities and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to remain calm and poised under pressure, work successfully on multiple priorities simultaneously and remain focused when working under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint).
- The ability to coordinate across partner agencies to ensure a fully functioning site and solve problems that arise during site operation.
- The ability to work 12-hour shifts as needed based on the client’s operational tempo.
- A willingness to be on-site working with a client for more than one month.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher.
- The ability to provide summary products, meeting recaps, or client deliverables.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Ideal candidates for the role of Site Coordinator will have the following qualifications:
- Ten years of professional experience in emergency management, humanitarian or migrant support coordination, or a related field.
- A background working with and supporting vulnerable populations.
- Experience managing site operations during the COVID-19 pandemic or managing a similar operation during a disaster event .
- Experience in an Operations or Logistics Section on a previous disaster.
- Experience working as part of an Incident Management Team (IMT).
