Job Description

Korn Ferry has partnered with our client in the energy industry on their search for a Senior Trading Accountant. This is a great opportunity to work with a large energy company with some very exciting initiatives coming! This position is located downtown and could also flex towards a hybrid schedule.


Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Assists with preparing various reporting packages
  • Point person for SOX-related inquiries
  • Analyze mark-to-market calculations & record trade
  • Analyzes GL accounts ensuring accuracy including variance explanations
  • Review trading activity and upload into ERP system
  • Evaluate and reconcile monthly derivative hedging activity
  • Review monthly forecasts looking for anomalies and completeness
  • Reconcile inter-company transactions between various entities
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and record adjusting JEs


Skills Needed:

  • Strong understanding of accounting standards i.e. U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.
  • Strong Excel, detailed, analytical and problems solving skills
  • Mark-to-Market Accounting and Derivatives experience is required
  • ERP accounting system implementation and ongoing maintenance a plus
  • Soft skills needed include, excellent communicator, collaborative, business acumen, integrity and professionalism


Educational & Work Requirements:

  • Degree: bachelor’s degree in accounting: CPA preferred
  • Work Experience: 3-8 years of trading accounting experience
