What does a great Senior Software Development Engineer do?
You will come on board at a truly exciting time, and you will play a pivotal and crucial part in collaborating with a focused team of experienced developers, quality engineers and designers.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Travelport’s next generation of travel agencies tools.
You will be responsible for prototyping and developing new systems, overseeing junior developers on projects, and supporting various development duties.
The responsibilities of senior engineers include writing code, analyzing data, and contributing to the design and implementation of software.
You will be joining a team who are pivotal in building data ingestion and serving APIs for Travelport Products making customer interactions with Travelport seamless and efficient.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborates effectively with key stakeholders (infrastructure, quality, architecture, security, project management, commercial) to ensure solution meets business requirements, quality, cost and timeline requirements.
- Leads technical specifications/requirements/design activities for products across one entire portfolio
- Understands impact on adjacent systems and long term impact of technical decisions.
- Interacts with and influences multiple work groups within and outside of BU.
- Acts as a lead technical point of contact for large projects; as a technical expert.
- Lead operations, timelines, budgets, developing methods ensuring utilization of corporate project management tools as required eg: PPM, Jira etc.
- Represents company to external customers independently or partners with stakeholders to present
- Drives compliance with standard and best practices within application delivery that are focused on cost savings, high performance, high reliability, quality of user experience and architectural alignment of solutions.
- Makes recommendations to technology leadership on technology solutions.
- Contributes to design and systems development to ensure business requirements are met ensuring alignment with architectural roadmaps and in compliance with TEP (Technology Enterprise Process).
- Maintains awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and actively contributes to software development engineering best practices eg: Agile working methodologies across portfolio.
- Proactively drives collaborative relationships with key vendors/partners to accomplish strategic technology/application delivery goals.
- Coaches design teams in balancing tactical needs with strategic application of platform, application and/or global architectural standards
Who we are looking for in this role:
- Experience with planning and managing multiple projects
- Regarded as a subject matter expert within domain with additional experience across a range of applications and adjacent systems
- 10+ years relevant experience
- Experience developing, deploying or supporting commercial, customer facing solutions (either distributed or mainframe applications)
- Knowledge of the travel industry preferred and its nuances on Travelport business and future strategy
- Experience in Quality Assurance, software development, project management, operations and other technical areas
- Deep domain knowledge in at least one of the applications/products and adjacent system

Salary Target: $165,000 - $170,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
