The Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio (FOP of Ohio) is looking to fill theposition of Senior Secretary.This position will work in our downtown offices located at 222 E. Town Street, Columbus, Ohio from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Free parking on the lot behind the building.This person will be working in a position of trust with leaders in the largest law enforcement organization in Ohio.He/she must be supportive of and understanding of law enforcement.
This position is a union position and is part of the clerical bargaining unit. It is an hourly position starting at $18.50/hour (negotiations are at end of 2023), paid holidays, possibility of overtime (as approved), personal days, vacation and sick leave.The State Lodge provides excellent benefits, including medical, prescription, dental, vision, life and short and long term disability insurance.Details can be discussed during interview.
Responsibilities
The typical duties of the Senior Secretary are to be the first point of contact to individuals and businesses contacting the FOP of Ohio, Inc and its affiliates.The Senior Secretary will be able to point those inquiries to the suitable person and/or provide the appropriate follow up as directed. In addition, he/she will handle the majority of the administrative functions for the FOP of Ohio President, Vice-President and Secretary.Other duties include, but are not limited to:
·Oversee all tasks regarding the receipt and delivery of mail and packages
·Update FOP member and FOP Lodge officers in database
·Update FOP Lodge Officers in the directory
·Process FOP and FOP Associates license plate applications as well as revocation/denial letters
·Verify membership in the databases as needed
·Possess a working knowledge of social media platforms
·Work with coordinating the FOP Executive Committees as needed to schedule the annual Attorney General’s Conference, Political Screenings and Legislative matters
·Assist the FOP Executive Committee members with all aspects of communications including letter writing, phone calls and emails
·Assist with preparation and/or attend FOP board meetings and conferences
·Order and distribute supplies as needed
·Assemble spiral bound collective bargaining agreements
·Manage mailings, FOP Ohio Labor Council (FOP/OLC) membership packets, FOP Courtesy card distribution
·Assist with FOP/OLC membership rosters as needed
·Communicate with the membership via email and telephone in a professional manner
·Ability to use computers and software
·Ability to work independently; multi-task and prioritize assignments
·Learn and retain basic operations, policies and procedures of the FOP of Ohio and the FOP/OLC
·Respond to requests for assistance in a timely manner
·All other duties as assigned by the Office Administrator/designee
Qualifications
They must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of productsand possess excellent communication skills. Must have driver's license and able to do some in state travel.
