SENIOR SCIENTIST/ PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST, FORMULATION AND DELIVERY SCIENCES
We are looking for an experienced Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist with a background in genome editing, lipid nanoparticle development, and/or RNA handling and characterization to help expand our therapeutic capabilities and continue to improve our technology discovery platform. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in one of: (1) conducting research in the field of colloidal stability, interfacial fluid mechanics, microfluidics, or similar in the context of lipid nanoparticles, polymer nanoparticles or similar; (2) advanced analytical methods for nanomaterial and/or nucleic acid characterization; (3) experience working with RNA/DNA LNPs and/or characterizing the protein corona following in vivo administration. We are seeking curious, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals for an exciting opportunity to help build a new modality team within a successful nucleic acid therapeutics company.
Responsibilities

• Collaborate with scientists across the organization to advance company objectives
• Thoroughly document results in electronic lab notebooks and present findings to cross-functional teams
• Screen final formulation buffers and excipients to optimize shelf-life stability of LNPs and mitigate cold chain risks
• Develop deep understanding of nanoscale interactions that drive the assembly of lipid nanoparticles and define their stability and surface interaction properties
• Contribute to publications and patent applications
• Assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality including ordering and receiving lab supplies
• Design animal experiments for medium-throughput screening of LNP formulations
• Contribute to the development of new analytical techniques to characterize the stability of lipid nanoparticles and its impact on product efficacy
• Analyze experimental data and present scientific results at team research meetings
• Produce LNP formulations to support both internal research and partner program in vitro and in pre-clinical animal studies
• Apply fundamental knowledge of lipid nanoparticle-RNA/DNA interactions towards streamlining manufacturing processes

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience with high-throughput process development techniques and statistical design of experiments (DoE) is a plus
• Demonstrable experience conducting research in the field of colloids, microfluidic mixing methods, lipid nanoparticles, polymer nanoparticles, RNA/DNA therapeutics
• Preferably experience with lipids, lipid nanoparticles, RNA, and advanced analytical techniques for macromolecules and/or nanoparticles
• Collaborative, communicative, and passionate about their subject matter
• PhD with a degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutics or related field with 5-10 years of work experience

The pay scale for the Principal Scientist position is $117,112 to $144,825
