Senior Quality Engineer Jobs

The Senior Quality Engineer performs and leads tests of software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects. May create test data for applications. Documents and works to resolve all complex problems. Reports progress on problem resolution to Leadership. Devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations. Acts as information resource about assigned areas to technical writers. Performs complex workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements. Begins to
influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

• Ensure all documentation supporting the various test phases (UAT, QAS/Pre-Prod, PPV) are accurately reflected in qTest Design and Execution tabs, in compliance with the EOE UAT Guardrails
• Escalate known defects/barriers/impediments following escalation paths within Scrum team and/or Department
• Provide guidance to testers on all Agile processes/ceremonies and ensure all testers are invited/present and participating
• Ensure all user stories have been refined with Scrum Team aligned acceptance criteria and two UAT tasks are present: Design and Execution
• Ensure you are networking within your department and ART: PM, PO, SM, DEV, SIT, Business Stakeholders, etc.
• Manage the quality of defects in your area(s) and ensure timely resolution following EOE UAT Guardrails
• Manage the testable features and user stories in ADO following the guidelines set by your scrum team within assigned area(s)
• Ensure each RCMS Work Assignment (WA)/user stories/tasks/test cases have an assigned tester
• Ensure there is a Test Plan with Traceability matrix for each PI/Iteration - ensure all requirements have a test case
• Attend Scrum Team ceremonies for your assigned area(s) and ensure all testers are aware of status/issues/escalations by participating and engaging proactively in conversations
• Ensure new testers or resources are onboarded accordingly with appropriate access to area(s) they will be supporting
• Maintain and update monthly UAT ROI queries
• Identify and manage team velocity and capacity
• Maintain and update SharePoint library, page, sections, and team training materials
• Must ensure all team members are made aware of EOE UAT Guardrails to ensure quality
• Meet daily with UAT testers to provide knowledge sharing/status updates and discuss any impediments/challenges, as needed

Expectations

• Actively engaged and aware of what is happening within your area and the current status of work/tasks/impediments etc.
• Ensure a summary of defects and execution status of test cases is sent in a final sign off (conditional or otherwise), per iteration and/or prior to release. This must include your AD
• Communicate – Speak up and drive impediments to resolution and/or ensure all testers are engaged
• Understand the vision of where your scrum team(s)/ART(s) are headed and what they want to accomplish
• Must be familiar/certified with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices
• Effectively communicate issues and/or raise concerns with potential solutions/mitigation plans. Ensure you present/include a clear and concise final resolution
• Ensure qTest is being updated in a timely manner
• Provide guidance to testers when you see a lack of quality in their test cases or defect Leadership
• Be able to assess velocity and plan capacity by managing resources and coordinating testing efforts with your peers
• Be a SME (Subject Matter Expert) for all the applications your area(s) support – must be analytical and have problem-solving mentality. Think outside the box – be proactive vs reactive.
• Know all of the teams that make up EOE UAT and the applications they are responsible for testing
• Meet release milestones or communicate impediments/raise risks within your ART and the UAT department

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Experience with performing and leading tests of software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
• Work schedule will be east coast time zone, you will be required to be available M-F from 8am - 5pm once hired
• Experience with performing complex workflow analysis and recommending quality improvements.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with software testing

Preferred Qualifications

• SAFe certification
• ADO/qTest experience
