Overview

CR is currently seeking a Senior QA Engineer. This Senior QA Engineer will document test cases based on business requirements, and prepare and execute the test plan that covers functional, integration, data quality, browser and systems compatibility and automated testing. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the application meets the business requirements and that any potential issues are identified and fixed before deployment.

Under our CRFlex program, this is a hybrid position and is eligible for remote work up to 90%. The successful candidate must reside within 75 miles of one of our main office locations (Yonkers, NY, Washington DC, Colchester CT).

How You'll Make An Impact

As Senior QA Engineer you will partner with product owners to analyze business requirements, functional, and design specifications and story acceptance criteria for clarity and consistencies, conduct quality assurance testing from development to product release to identify risks and dependencies and ensure minimal effects to business operations and/or revenue generation. You will d esign, write and integrate complex coding changes to the automation scripts when there are functional or UI changes. The Senior QA Engineer will e xecute browser compatibility tests across Windows and Mac operating systems, and on various endpoints, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones and anticipate, identify, reproduce, and report defects to mitigate future programming defects.

About You

You’ll Be Highly Rated If:

• You have experience executing automated and manual test plans - and test scripts/cases, as well as reporting and tracking defects while performing. Regression, Integration, Black Box and User Acceptance Tests (UAT) for Web (N-Tier) and Client/Server applications.
• You have expert experience in writing automation tests - in one or more of the following languages: JavaScript, Python, Java.
• You have expert experience - in Open Source Automation tools like Cypress/Playwright
• You are an excellent communicator - both written and verbal and you have well developed interpersonal skills.
• You have a Bachelor’s Degree - in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, Master’s Degree a plus or equivalent work experience. Minimum 5 years in Quality Assurance, especially web-based applications in a professional IT/business environment.

• Your knowledge is broad - of RESTful API’s and how to build data driven automated testing and you have e xperience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, and Virtual DOM inspection browser extensions.
• You have experience using - Qtest, JIRA, BrowserStack (Similar Tools), and Adobe Analytics.

FAIR PAY & A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $102k to $117k. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
