Job Overview


Lummus Technology is currently seeking a talented and highly experienced Senior Project Director to manage proposals and projects of wide-ranging complexity ($10+ Billion EPC). This position requires experience in executing large refinery/petrochemicals complexes as a licensor and seamless alignment with EPC partners for achieving a successful project delivered within the shortest overall project schedule. Candidate must have excellent communications skill and be able to exude execution excellence, confidence and trust from perspective major oil giants to win these very large CAPEX projects. Candidate must have a clear understanding of project scope and objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member and engineering partner to effectively coordinate the activities of the assignment. The ideal candidate must ensure timely and efficient completion of engineering projects to achieve the objectives of both the company and the client.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


  • Continually monitor project/proposal progress to ensure milestones are met within the specific deadlines.
  • Customer contacts are established and used effectively to promote customer satisfaction
  • Organizes and leads complex projects that have a significant impact on the company
  • Change orders to be promptly prepared for client additional scope or design basis changes, etc.
  • Perform other activities in all areas of project management as needed.
  • Providing leadership, direction and mentoring to large scale multi-disciplinary teams to develop high quality solutions on time, within budget, while following applicable codes, specifications, and the engineering plan of the project.
  • Track and monitor man-hour estimates.
  • Influential or persuasive communication that convinces others to accept ideas put forth, both internal and external
  • Uses, promotes and advances the principles of Quality as an integral part of the work process
  • Consult with Engineering Leads and Technology Managers (TM’s) to assure staffing/de-staffing are in accordance with the project’s needs.
  • Communicate project status to all team members.
  • Uses diverse approaches to develop criteria for making high quality decisions in the absence of a definitive framework
  • Overall responsibility for delivery of projects in line with contractual, financial and client satisfaction expectations
  • Prepare Engineering/Staffing Plan with input of Engineering Leads and TM’s.
  • Resolve commercial issues with clients and vendors.
  • Ensure that the Client requirements and request are clearly defined and communicated to the project team.
  • Manage costs and maintain gross margins for assigned projects, proposals, and studies.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly project progress reports.
  • Confer with the Engineering Leads, TM‘s and Leadership Team regarding changes of significant consequences to the scope or schedule of the project.
  • Lead client meetings together with Engineering Leads and TM’s.



Qualifications:


  • Working knowledge of industry specifications and standards
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with procurement
  • Solid knowledge of chemical engineering disciplines
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in leading complex projects including process engineering, project engineering,
  • Ability to balance multiple and sometimes competing priorities within tight timelines.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in detailed engineering, construction and start-up activities
  • Ability to work independently in areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Detailed understanding of cost aspects of a project
  • Familiarity with negotiation skills
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to initiate and guide the work of others.
  • Familiarity with typical contractual terms and conditions
  • Customer focused.
  • Ability to plan and schedule the work effort for a project team.
  • Managing project execution and coordinating project teams.
  • Good understanding of process technologies
  • Strong ability to analyze complex issues and determine the best solution or course of action to meet client needs.
  • $10+ billion EPC Project Director Experience is a must.
