Job Description
Sr. Production Supervisor, US Eastern Region
Status: Exempt (Salaried)
Location: US Eastern Region (Latham, NY)
Position Summary
This position reports to the Production Manager located at Plug Process Systems in Houston, Texas and is responsible for oversight of the production of equipment at assigned supplier locations to ensure safety; adherence and conformance to quality and engineering specifications; and to ensure on-time delivery. The Sr. Production Supervisor, US Eastern Region will be located in Latham, NY with the ability to cover the US Eastern Region to include to include facilities East of the Mississippi River with primary focus on the production of Screw Compressors, Modular Gas Processing Skids and other engineered gas processing equipment. The Production Supervisor provides on-site monitoring of production and reports progress to the Production Manager and Project Team via regular Progress Reports and S-Curve updates to ensure that their respective sections of the Master Production Plan are kept current. The Production Supervisors are responsible for supporting the Quality Control Program by strictly adhering to the Plug Process Systems Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) by executing required inspections and maintaining required inspection reports and documentation. The Sr. Production Supervisor Follows the workflow to ensure that manufacturing processes are completed in accordance with the highest quality standards and current schedule requirements. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a thorough knowledge of manufacturing best practices and the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders. The Production Supervisor must be prepared to adapt to the changing needs of a fast-paced continuously evolving environment to ensure team success. The Production Supervisor position is expected to always represent Plug Power with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Principle Accountabilities
  • Perform actions related to the Inspection Test Plan
  • Observe and report daily production efforts across assigned vendor facilities to assist with tracking of fabrication, assembly and manufacturing KPI’s to update schedules.
  • Understand schedule and progress tracking requirements; percent complete calculations and provide regular Production Progress Reports, schedule updates and Progress S-Curves to ensure the Master Production Plan is kept up to date, accurate and current.
  • Communicate with Production Manager and Project Team Members regarding expectations to ensure manufacturing is performing at suitable progression and help determine remedial actions in cases where production has fallen behind.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Plug Process Systems products and manufacturing process; provide ongoing training and communication to team members.
  • Collaborates within other Quality functions, develops relationships with other supporting functions and departments. Strong team player. Builds long term relationships.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports as needed in the course of work
  • Set a tone for work quality and accountability with Suppliers/Vendors; understand quality issues affecting final product testing and respond appropriately to insure Non conformances are acted upon according to the Plug Process Systems protocols
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with colleagues; work cross- functionally as needed to resolve issues and achieve mutual goals
  • Work with the Production Planner to ensure that the Master Production Plan is maintained, and Progress Reports are submitted in a timely manner to control and ensure schedule conformance
  • Read and edit drawings and P&ID’s as required to provide Engineering feedback from shop level
  • Cross-train team members in various assembly and manufacturing processes to increase job satisfaction and promote depth of talent
  • Always adhere to safety standards while enforcing safe work habits with all team members; this includes all OSHA regulations and facility safety guidelines
  • Work with the Quality Manager, Production Manager and the Engineering staff to develop inspection procedures and inspect the associated equipment to given procedures
  • Work to continually improve production metrics to ensure Quality and throughput within the Plug Process systems Approved Vendor List (AVL)
  • Witness Mandatory Inspection Points at AVL facility and/or on site at Hydrogen projects.
  • Assist in performance management activities including preparation of vendor performance evaluations, and assistance with matters as necessary by partnering with Supply Chain Management
  • Communicate with internal customers, procurement, quality assurance and suppliers to resolve non-conformances and inspection discrepancies.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) according to the appropriate equipment type following the FAT procedure.
  • Perform dimensional and physical inspection with standard measuring equipment.
  • Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and procurement requirements.
  • Witness/verify workmanship
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Comprehend isometric pipe, structural, and electrical wiring drawings
Education and Experience
  • Particular areas of experience desired: fabrication, assembly and testing standards of process equipment to include: rotating equipment, compressors, turbo expanders, pumps, filters, pressure vessels, tanks, process towers, heat exchangers, structural steel, piping, relief devices, electrical equipment, valves, instrumentation, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent task-oriented follow-through
  • Must be willing and available to work overtime as needed to support mission critical / essential activities in support of vendor schedules and travel.
  • Specific knowledge pertaining to the fabrication, assembly and test of OEM equipment, engineered equipment, modular skid packages, and large rotating equipment.
  • CWI & NACE Certifications a plus but not required
  • Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Ability to understand and implement complex technical requirements.
  • Basic math and technical writing skills.
  • Must be willing and available to travel to vendor locations to perform duties
  • Ability to read and understand basic engineering terminology to include drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous supervisory experience highly preferred
  • Superior interpersonal skills and communication abilities
  • Must have valid passport with the ability to travel internationally.
  • Experience: at least ten (10) years
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Extensive travel in designated are of responsibility. Expect periodic travel to Houston, Texas for planning and training.
  • Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.
  • Broad technical background, awareness or knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, NEC, AWS, NACE, IBC, etc.) Knowledge of common materials and fabrication methods (e.g. welding, etc.) used in pressure vessels, process piping, structural steel assemblies, instrument and electrical packages.
  • Proficiency with Standard Measuring and Test Equipment.
Pay Rate:
$62,700.00 - $94,050.00
