We are seeking a driven individual with a passion for the biopharmaceutical industry. One of our clients is looking to add a strong Senior Manager of Procurement to their team. Responsibilities include:
1) Review and manage SAP to ensure that up-to-date and accurate requirements are being generated
2) Interface with Planning, Quality Control, Accounts Payable and Warehousing teams on a regular basis to ensure that the purchasing function is consistently meeting the needs of the business
3) Develop and maintain procurement analysis for key materials detailing past and current purchasing activity, price and supply trends, market trends, and future purchasing strategy
4) Develop and manage the annual standard cost process, providing all standard cost data to the finance function as required for the budgeting process
5) Establish and implement policies, procedures and communications that will ensure that the purchasing function is carried out legally, efficiently and professionally throughout the organization
6) Maintain government regulations as required
7) Establish and maintain equitable relationships with suppliers
8) Develop long-term relationships with key manufacturers to support the competitive positioning of the company
9) Schedule meetings with suppliers to ensure continuity of negotiation for continuous quality of price and service
10) Generate purchase orders in SAP and schedule deliveries to support production and purchase schedules
11) Identify and develop raw material sources on a timely basis
12) Lead Materials Management cost reduction activities and communicate cost savings philosophy to staff
13) Report results and purchase price variances, as required
14) Maintain purchasing policies and all internal SOPs and assist in maintaining capital expenditures and other accounting procedures related to purchasing, as necessary
15) Monitor inventory levels and set standards for materials purchased by the company
16) Assist in the development of planned inventory levels, report progress against plans, and provide corrective action support for inventories that vary from plan, including disposition of excess inventories
17) Organize and direct procurement and contracting activity for all raw materials, critical processing aides, soft goods and disposables at all company locations to ensure price, quality, and service goals are met
18) Partner with Quality Compliance to maintain the approved vendor program
19) Survey Purchasing’s internal customers to ensure services provided meet the organization’s present and future requirements
20) Track and report vendor performance against contracts and purchase orders and provide vendor feedback
21) Work with vendors to resolve material shortages by finding approved substitutions or by escalating requests for expedited
22) Assist in developing specifications with users and suppliers
23) Monitor company document shredding service, uniform services, and coffee service
24) Oversee supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations
25) Oversee the operations and daily activities of the Purchasing Department
26) Manage, train, develop and motivate purchasing staff
Critical Requirements
1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field
2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)
3) Recent experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred
4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in purchasing management
