The Senior macOS Client Platform Engineer Opportunity
As a Senior CPE Engineer at Okta, you'll be a valued member of the core team responsible for maintaining endpoint architecture. Your role will involve crafting the end user experience, which includes tasks such as OS patching and deployment, configuring network certificates, and ensuring a smooth software setup process for end users. You will have the opportunity to see projects through from start to finish, identifying areas for improvement, researching optimal solutions, explaining your approach to others, and implementing effective solutions. What you’ll be doing
- Maintaining client configuration and security compliance standards.
- Identifying and implementing internal process and automation enhancements.
- Developing and executing a comprehensive patching and software distribution framework.
- Automating application and settings distribution.
- Providing support for macOS, iOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems and software.
- Serving as an escalation point for the global IT Service Desk team.
- Implementing and refining deployment solutions across various operating systems.
- Implementing and iterating solutions across different operating system platforms.
- Creating and maintaining detailed and accurate documentation.
- Managing client configuration and ensuring security compliance standards across all endpoints.
- Supporting integrations with cloud-based directories, identity providers (IdPs), and identity masters.
- Serving as an escalation point for the global IT support team.
- Designing, building, documenting, and supporting ongoing automation for endpoint deployment and management.
- Contributing to the growth and mentorship of the global IT organization.
- Leading, administering, and scaling our endpoint fleet and related infrastructure.
- Collaborating with the security team to establish endpoint security models and best practices.
- Identifying and implementing internal process and automation improvements.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work independently as well.
- Ability to research, propose, build, and administer high-level tech initiatives aligned with the company's security and business requirements.
- Familiarity with business systems, including VOIP, VPNs, networking technologies, audit and compliance (strongly preferred).
- Expertise in packaging applications, managing patch compliance, and distributing software.
- Compassionate, humble, and customer-focused attitude.Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Experience in scaling and integrating directories (LDAP, AD, Azure AD, etc.).
- Expert level knowledge of Jamf ProExperience in architecting and implementing endpoint management software solutions.
- 5+ years of scripting experience (Powershell, bash, python, etc.).Experience in administering, scaling, and integrating cloud-based identity providers (IdPs), preferably Okta and Google Suite.
- Familiarity with at least two industry-standard MDM solutions, such as Jamf Pro, SCCM, Intune, or AirWatch.
- Attention to detail and a security-focused mindset when solving problems.
- 5+ years of experience in implementing and supporting internal and external applications and systems (e.g., SSO solutions, G Suite, Slack, anti-virus software, etc.).
- Proficiency in administering, deploying, and troubleshooting macOS Mojave and later, Windows 10/11, iOS 13 and later, Android, and Linux operating systems.
- 5+ years of combined server administration experience.
- Comfortable working with git repositories.Passion for automating processes and streamlining business functions.
And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
- Proficient in bash, Python, Go, or other scripting languages
- A can-do attitude, bringing solutions to the table.
- Experience with Federal requirements and FedRAMP compliance
- Relevant IT industry certifications (Okta, ITIL, GPCE, MCSA, MCITP, or MCTS) are a plus
- Okta Workflows, Tines or other workflows engine
- Experience managing other endpoints; macOS, iOS, Android, Linux

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$140,000—$189,000 USD The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $156,000—$211,000 USD
