Job Description

Amherst is looking for a Senior Manager, Learning & Development, who will create learning solutions and experiences that build workforce capability to accelerate talent, improve performance, and enhance relevant continuous learning experiences aligned to business needs. In this role, innovation and curiosity are key to designing, delivering, and maintaining an end-to-end approach toward enhancing our talent development offerings, services, and measurements as it relates to learning, organizational change management, equipping succession planning activities, and job-skill training.

You will partner and collaborate with the VP, Learning and Development, cross-functional business partners and SMEs, and Human Capital team to champion best practices in Talent Development to create top-quality talent capabilities that instill an engaging, high-performance culture that inspires our team members. You will be joining a group that has a passion for empowering our team members and a dedication to embedding learning into the flow of work by creating experiences at every step of the employee lifecycle.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Design and develop learning resources in a variety of formats and modalities (e.g., print, graphics, audio, video, eLearning, job aids, reference guides, facilitator guides and presentation materials) to support learning offerings
  • Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders to understand business opportunities and make recommendations
  • Facilitate leadership, soft skill and job-skill specific training using various instructional design elements (e.g., case studies, real play simulations/scenarios, team exercise)
  • Plan, organize, deliver, and maintain effective development experiences by utilizing a variety of training techniques and methods that engage the participants and maximize learning
  • Provide support for talent development needs across the organization at all levels of career progression (including High-Potential programs, Leadership Development and Coaching)
  • Modify programs as needed and continuously seek to enhance learning
  • Present material in an engaging way, adjusting the technique and approach to match the need of the situation (e.g., in person, virtual, asynchronous, 1:1 small teams)
  • Stay current on leading learning, development, and employee engagement trends to benchmark and identify best practices
  • Understand behavioral learning trends and apply innovative solutions to bring complex content to life in simple, memorable ways
  • Drive partnership with internal SMEs to create, capture and deliver knowledge-sharing assets, leveraging standard platform, tools, and templates

  • Experience working with / administering a Learning Management System


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of highly effective and engaging facilitation experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Captivate and Camtasia
  • Proven accomplishment in building relationships with customers and internal clients
  • 7+ years in Learning & Development
  • Elevated level of interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Knowledge of various training and teaching methods
  • Ability to travel to travel up to 15%
  • Demonstrated success in developing, facilitating, and assessing training programs (including learning outcomes)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to translate complex information into easily understandable and applied knowledge


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified in Strengths, DiSC
  • Prior experience with Workday Learning Management System
  • Prior experience with SharePoint
