Opportunity

The Snr. Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for all facility-related environmental, health and safety requirements, including developing, maintaining, updating and communicating all related company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements. The Snr. EHS Specialist will be fundamental to guiding the facilities EHS culture.
Specific Responsibilities

• Lead site team to coordinate injury prevention plans (IPP) ensuring the continuous improvement of safety in new or existing products, processes, and procedures.
• Implementation and organization of Kohler Safety Management System and Kohler Environmental Management System.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the safety program using established goals and make recommendations and implement corrective action(s) based on industry standards and best practices.
• Provide monthly safety reviews and targeted compliance audits.Present reports on compliance status and any corrective actions. Lead and/or facilitate EHS Awareness Programs, EHS events and various safety related teams.
• Responsible for implementing capital environmental projects.
• Works closely with Engineering and Facilities on special projects involving plant construction, equipment design, and hazardous assessments.
• Responsible for the coordination of environmental upset response and documentation.
• Organize a central repository for all Environmental data to ensure ease of use by all, and availability for future reference.
• Responsible for regulatory reporting to local, country, and regional agencies.
• Participate in and mentor management through accident investigations, identifying root cause and creating and tracking corrective action plans through implementation, preventing future reoccurrence of injury.
• Manage all company, local, country and regional environmental requirements for the facility.
• Conduct risk and hazard analysis for critical positions.Maintain statistical analysis of associate accidents and injuries to target specific areas for Risk Assessment and Job Hazard Analysis.
• Maintain all regulatory required programs, training, logs, records, and reports.
• Prepares regulatory agency submissions including but not limited to local / state / country requirements.
• Work with Regional EHS and, where applicable, third-party insurance carriers to evaluate claims. Environmental Compliance
• Organize environmental records as mandated by local and regional agencies.Interpret regulations, as necessary.
• Implement safety related capital projects, including evaluation, justification, capital approval preparation and follow-up.
• Understand and communicate pertinent EHS government regulations, Kohler EHS standards and best practices to management and associates.
• Provides EHS leadership, training, and operational support to all levels of the organization and across all functional groups.
• Audit environmental compliance practices and procedures.

Skills/Requirements

• 5+ years experience in an EHS related role within an industrial setting.
• The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to function as a team leader, able to foster management and associate participation, have good interpersonal communication and computer skills.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Safety or environmental-related field.

Travel as required for training, about 10%.
