Description

Milliman's Seattle Health Practice supports clients in the healthcare industry including health plans, government payers, providers, and reinsurers. We are looking for a Senior Director of Healthcare Strategy to develop and implement strategies involving multiple stakeholders, complex initiatives, and a myriad of financial, operational, and strategic considerations. This position will provide thoughtful and actionable guidance to physician practices, medical groups, hospitals, and health systems.

About Our Practice

Milliman’s Seattle Health Practice serves a wide variety of organizations, including insurance companies, health plans, state and federal agencies, healthcare providers, reinsurance companies, providers, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and employers. The staff consists of 150+ actuarial professionals in addition to healthcare consultants, IT, Administrative, and other non-actuarial staff.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Design comprehensive and viable strategic plans for a variety of healthcare organizations. Examples include:

  • Organizational and programmatic strategy for growth and development
  • Service line design, including hybrid primary care and concierge models
  • Business planning guidance on unique, highly specialized initiatives that require the creation of new approaches and/or business models
  • Market assessments and demand analyses by specialty, market, and/or service area
  • Implementation support and management services
  • Financial services, e.g., benchmarking analyses, financial projections

Develop compensation plans for small, single specialty to large multi-specialty groups, taking into account multiple care models, organizational strategies, and the following types of considerations:

  • Periodic (e.g., annual) compensation plan reviews with targeted adjustments
  • Compensation and productivity benchmarking assessments
  • Plan education, training, and implementation assistance
  • Productivity-based models, by specialty and/or subspecialty
  • Value-based incentive structures, as well as other incentive arrangements to address unique practice dynamics
  • Funds flow structure design (for select partnership arrangements)

Negotiate and champion the build of hospital-physician and medical group-physician partnerships to provide enhanced community access to key healthcare services. Example partnership arrangements for development and/or review include:

  • Professional and/or management service agreements
  • Joint operating agreements
  • Joint ventures
  • Other, as identified
  • Full employment

To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications:

Professional Qualifications

  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • 10+ years' experience providing consulting services to healthcare organizations
  • 10+ years’ experience analyzing healthcare utilization and financial data
  • Proficient in advanced Excel and other MS-based product techniques, including MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience leading external stakeholder meetings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Personal Qualifications

  • Ability to work within a team environment and independently manage own work
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to assist with directing analytical processes and interpreting analytical results to support client engagement teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree

Location

Candidates hired in this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Seattle, Washington on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $190,000 - $260,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
