Description

The Senior Director for Global Security Services is responsible for leading the functions for Security Data and Analytics; Security Architecture; Response Readiness and Awareness; and Security Program Management and Business Operations. Reporting to the CISO, this is a senior role providing leadership, executive support, strategic and tactical guidance, and execution for a world class cybersecurity program supporting global cybersecurity initiatives. The Senior Director will lead an adaptable and business enabling cybersecurity team, in addition to influencing and executing with technical team members, such as data and cybersecurity engineers and architects, and product teams aligned to cyber insights and resilience. This leader is expected to be skilled at effective communication and possess business acumen to align and work closely with other leaders. In addition to direct reports, this individual must be capable of working closely with C level leadership, third parties, and occasionally the Board of Directors. This leader must embody Liberty Mutual values, and drive outcomes for Global Cybersecurity in which employees feel valued and challenged to achieve excellence. Recruiting, career development and retention are top personnel priorities falling under the purview of the role. The leader`s background should be encompassing of a broad range of security disciplines and knowledge of technologies and controls they offer, as well as business processes and financial oversight.


About the role:

  • Enforce a strong security culture, ensuring uniformity across security leadership, business units and employees.
  • Be actively informed and engaged in daily security operations, to be able to stand in for decision making delegated by the CISO.
  • Work closely with GCS senior leadership in setting department vision and direction and motivating team members to achieve results across aligned functions: Security Data and Analytics, Security Architecture, Response Readiness and Awareness, and Security Program Management and Business Operations.
  • Foster strong relationships with LM tech and business leaders and external entities to maintain a strong network.
  • Oversee the security budget and additional fiduciary responsibilities. In conjunction with security leadership, define and deliver key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics aligning with business initiatives.
  • Maintains breadth and depth of perspective, utilizing enterprise and industry/market trends, standard executive dashboards, and regular benchmarking exercises.
  • Build relationships with technical and compliance teams to deliver security by design controls that are incorporated into work efforts, architecture, infrastructure and applications.
Qualifications
  • Strategic vision and ability to influence others.
  • Bachelor or Master degree in technical discipline is ideal. CISSP and or CISM certification preferred.
  • Driven to build a strong, cohesive team and positive enterprise wide security culture.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to gain and preserve credibility with the team through sustained industry knowledge.
  • Ability to set vision and lead an environment consisting of multiple large teams.
  • Thorough understanding of business operations, objectives and strategies including but not limited to, insurance industry, financial services, global business and technology trends.
  • At least 3 years experience working with business leadership and with some fiscal responsibilities.
  • At least 10+ years cybersecurity management experience with at least 8+ years in an operationally focused security practitioner role.
  • Proven high level of integrity, trustworthiness and confidence, as well as ability to represent the company and security leadership with the highest level of professionalism.
