Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for…

  • Managing monthly pre-bill distribution process; distributing pre-bill exception reports and resolving pre-bill concerns
  • Working with Practice Management team in chasing WIP and ensuring accurate reporting of data
  • Ensuring billing attorneys and responsible attorneys have provided detailed explanations for billing exceptions, including all billing adjustments to ensure bill requests are compliant with firm guidelines
  • Processing draft bill edits including transfers of fee and/or disbursement entries to correct client/matter(s) as submitted on bill request
  • Backing up Billing Operations Manager in monitoring billing mailbox and assignment of bills
  • Setting up new timekeeper rates firm-wide, processing rate changes and client new matter plans
  • Reviewing bill requests to ensure information is accurate and complete, including ensuring all appropriate approvals have been obtained
  • Providing ad-hoc reporting and account analysis as needed on matters of responsibility
  • Serving as team billing and e-billing contact for billing reports, queries and data collection inquiry
  • Processing monthly e-billing for assigned matters and coordinating the prompt follow-up and resolution of e-bill rejections

The successful candidate will demonstrate…

  • Ability to review, interpret and implement client billing guidelines
  • Legal billing experience with Aderant or Elite preferred
  • Thorough understanding of electronic billing processes, including the creation of LEDES files and using third party e-billing submission systems
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as client contacts
  • Minimum of 5 years previous accounting experience required, including e billing experience
  • Thorough understanding of bill processing including policies and procedures associated with same
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Intermediate mathematical skills

Pay Range for Candidates in San Francisco:
$75,000- $95,000 per year
The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
