The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Head of Technical Accounting & Reporting, you will be primarily responsible for the accounting transactions and reporting requirements for all North America operating entities.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Review transactional bookings on a regular (quarterly) basis to ensure accurate P&L impacts
• Global P&L analysis and reviews
• Governance and quality assurance
• Identify problems and opportunities for improvements; propose creative solutions that improve qualitative and quantitative performance
• Take care of monthly legal entity close submission activities, including posting of accruals, deferred acquisition expenses and other accounting transactions
• Coordination, transfer and reconciliation of data from interfaces of front-end systems
• Ensure all IFRS, GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, reporting to regulatory authorities, NAIC reporting, other internal/external reporting requirements) related to own area of responsibility are accurate and timely on a global basis
• Assist internal clients (e.g. other departments) with reports, research and other activities
• Document application of policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
• Complete assigned postings, journal entries and account reconciliations on a periodic basis. Reconcile intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group
• Manage relationship with 3rd parties (auditors, business units, tax authorities, public authorities, etc.)

What You’ll Bring To The Role

• CPA preferred, but not required
• Strong analytical skills and ability to stay focused in a deadline driven environment with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage projects (milestone and task planning, managing resources, controlling, monitoring, reporting, moderating) and to develop solutions while considering complex stakeholder structures and requirements
• Comprehensive knowledge of Statutory accounting, IAS / IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as Allianz Accounting policies), compliance and declaration
• Understanding insurance financial statements and their performance measurement including drivers
• Ability to handle complex processes (closing, reporting, finance operations) including understanding of data flows
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products (primarily Excel and PowerPoint)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
• Proven understanding of standard accounting (GAAP, Statutory & IFRS) for insurance and reinsurance
• Strong ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively to any audience/level of management (both verbally and in writing)
• 5-7 years of professional experience in P&C insurance/reinsurance
• Project and team work in an international and dynamic environment
• Reliability & conscientiousness, assertive, yet cooperative team player are softer skills needed in this role

The annualized base pay range for this role is $75,409 - $128,400. The annual base salary range represents a Chicago market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AGCS total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
