Job Description
:
The Semiconductor/Electronics Sales Specialist position is a highly skilled and highly technical sales position which relies heavily on consultative selling skills via both the Zeiss Selling Process (ZSP) and Challenger Sales techniques to meet customer requirements and individual/territorial sales targets. Success requires a strong understanding of customer needs as they pertain to both products (EM/XRM/HIM instruments) and applications in Semiconductor and Electronics in the assigned industrial accounts. The position requires an individual with extensive knowledge and/or experience in semiconductor/FAB and/or microelectronics applications/business, strong technical knowledge of each of the various systems he/she is responsible for, and excellent time management skills. Additionally, required are excellent communication skills and the ability to work in teams with other salespeople, application specialists, service engineers, office administration, and all related positions of other departments. At all times, conduct in accordance with company guidelines and standards is expected.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparing account-based business plans including strategic actions to meet or exceed sales goals which are in alignment/agreed to by supporting team members from Marcom, Business Sectors, Applications, etc.
  • Generate proposals which are technically accurate while adhering to company quotation processes which meet the needs of the customer
  • Responsible for your personal safety when visiting labs and institutions by understanding the basics of lab behavior and an awareness of risks
  • Ongoing development of both product and application knowledge for the instruments and business areas served to enable independent sales activities and technical presentations to be performed at an expert level
  • Maximal usage of Customer face-to-face interactions (both in person and virtual) related to selling, support, relationship development, and customer retention, including the customer’s functional partners such as procurement, departmental supervisors, and all key contributors to the customer’s success within their organization
  • Effectively work in team sale scenarios with Direct and Indirect Sales channels
  • Works to establish expectations with the customer and manages their business relationship with ZEISS build Brand loyalty
  • Use ZSP and Challenger sales techniques to qualify opportunities and advance them to completion
  • Actively engages in personal development leveraging the content available on the ZEISS CurioZ online training portal, as well as self-inspired development of knowledge as it relates to the role
  • CRM Maintenance to ensure the funnel is current with all opportunities properly characterized and key fields maintained so that forecasting is accurate
Requirements:
  • Positive “can do” attitude coupled with a willingness to continuously acquire product and application knowledge independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher. Preferably in Materials Science or Engineering with knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing
  • Prior experience and comfort presenting technical information to large groups both in person and in web-based forums
  • Must have driving record in good standing, a valid U.S. driver license, and be able to drive a company provided car/van.
  • Working knowledge of Electron Microscopy (EM), CT scanner, X-ray Microscopy, and Focused Ion Beam (FIB) as well as associated technologies such as EDS/EDX, WDS, etc. as these apply to microelectronics and semiconductors
  • Prior experience in technical sales and managing a field coverage area for technical sales or product support preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office product suit including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the semiconductor/FAB and/or microelectronics field
The annual pay range for this position is $65,000 - 80,000.
The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions. ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
