Job Description

Project Scientist

To best integrate into our existing exceptional team, the ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, career-oriented engineer/scientist with the ability to apply technical and critical thinking skills to meet project demands and solve problems for our clients. We are looking for a team member that is knowledgeable of environmental science principles, policies and regulations and displays a good understanding of chemistry/geology, have experience in environmental site assessment (Phase I and Phase II), groundwater monitoring and reporting, and remediation project design, field implementation and oversight experience. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience (level working in environmental consulting or other applicable environmental sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical reports for delivery to clients, perform quality control review, and maintain deliverable quality to meet internal and client requirements.
  • Support fellow project team members by occasionally managing tasks on behalf of Senior Project Manager/Project Manager in a responsible and responsive manner.
  • Champion quality and demonstrate leadership by personal high standards for work processes and products and exemplary service to clients.
  • Actively support and participate in the company health and safety program by teaching and enforcing health and safety standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Be open to professional development opportunities including training in a variety of technical and project management areas and mentoring from senior staff.

Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge and compliance expertise
  • Hold professional registration or certification
  • Ability to balance personal and project workloads and schedules to accommodate multiple projects
  • BS or MS in Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, or related field with at least 5 plus years of environmental consulting experience
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Experience with implementation and management of site assessments (Geoprobe, HSA drilling, geological logging)
  • Strong personal safety culture
  • Ability to interact/negotiate with regulatory personnel and clients
  • Working understanding of ArcGIS, Google Earth, and/or AutoCAD preferred
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training in accordance with 29CFR 1910.120Proficient in MS office
  • Ability to organize and manage field sampling efforts, manage large amounts of laboratory data, analyze information, and prepare technical reports
  • Detail-oriented and timely in completing assignments and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Works well as an independent but accountable team member

Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with remediation design and implementation (installation, operation, maintenance and monitoring) of some or all of the following remedial technologies: soil vapor extraction (SVE), in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD), Carbon Trap and Treat BOS-100/200
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing site characterization activities
  • Advanced degree (MS) in engineering or geology

The position is a salaried position with bonus opportunity and the work hours are flexible, targeting 43-45 hours per week, consistent with the industry standard. The position will require occasional out-of-town travel.
