Description
The Scheduling Specialist is responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility and accurately identifying patient financial responsibility.
This is a key position that will begin the overall patient experience and initiates the billing process for any services provided by the hospital
Schedule: FT (40 hours) ** Remote
Shift: Days
After up to 90 days of on-site training, this role will be remote.
Training will take place at 41 University Drive Newtown, PA.
While this role is remote, there will be occasional need to be on site for training and meetings.
Scheduling Specialist
  • Completes scheduling of appointment, pre-registration, insurance verification and authorization requirements with collection of out-of-pocket payments as applicable based on Bronze Standard.
  • Applies recurring visit processing according to protocol.Provides cost estimates.  Collects and documents Medicare Questionnaire and obtains information from the patient if third party payers need to be billed (i.e. worker's compensation, motor vehicle accidents and any other applicable payer)
  • Handles complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing, associated studies and those with study specific instructions.
  • Is responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility and accurately identifying patient financial responsibility.
  • Analyzes patient insurance(s), identifies the correct insurance plan, selects appropriately from HIS insurance and plan selections and documents correct insurance order. 
  • Accurately schedule appointments using scheduling protocols and insurance requirements via current HIS (Health Information System).
Qualifications
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of scheduling with mastery in at least three (3) or more modalities and insurance verification processes
  • Knowledge of up-front collections, insurance verification or pre-registration (preferred)
  • HS diploma (required)
  • 3-5 years' scheduling experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
  • 1-2 years' call center experience (required)
