Job Description

Responsible for scheduling surgical and medical procedures as well as diagnostic testing, within both the in-patient and out-patient settings. This involves coordinating with hospital and practice personnel, obtaining pre-authorizations and providing general information and education to patients regarding the procedure and/or test. Ensure all appropriate patient information is gathered prior to the patient’s visit. Actively participates as a member of the healthcare team to engage patients, families and caregivers in the coordination of patient care. Perform various administrative duties such as answering telephones, making copies and maintaining supplies.


Education


  • Associate’s Degree or completion of a Medical Office Professional program or equivalent preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.


Experience


  • Two to three years’ experience in a medical practice or clinical setting or educational equivalent required. (Experience must be 24 out of the past 36 months in a medical practice or clinical setting).


Performance Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Ability to sort and file materials by alphabetic and numeric systems.
  • Familiarity with all applicable medical laws and regulations regarding dissemination of patient information.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, telephones and computers.
  • Knowledge of physician office procedures, medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines, Electronic Health Records (EHR) Understanding of insurance guidelines and requirements for referrals and authorizations.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to record messages and patient data accurately, including use of appropriate grammar and spelling.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
  • Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively and to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


  • Obtains Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR–OE) by the American Association of Medical Assistants within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Under the direction of the Manager and Supervisors of Environmental Services, the Aide is responsible for maintaining the Medical Center in a clean and orderly fashion. This is accomplished by following the established cleaning standards.


Education


  • High school diploma or G.E.D.


Experience


  • No previous experience required.

  • Knowledge of basic principles of cleaning.
  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and understand instructions.
  • Basic computer skills.
