Sales Manager (Strategic Business Development)


Position Overview – Sr.
Based on high customer demand for advanced lighting systems, our Plastic Omnium Lighting team is seeking to add to our growing sales organization.
The Sr. Sales Manager works with our team of lighting experts and operations teams to support the strategic growth of the Americas Lighting division.

  • Forward/Rear Lighting
  • Advanced Exterior Projection
  • Body Shell Lighting Systems (Bumpers / Grille Lighting)
  • Interior Lighting Systems

Responsibilities
Experienced professional with the ability to build strong customer relationships and manage to accomplish demanding goals in an automotive supplier environment.
  • Support executive Business Committee reviews.
  • 50% Strategic Growth focused on new OEM direct customers
  • Understand and communicate/sell current, and new technology via participation in tech shows, customer visits, and new business discussions.
  • Support Market Intelligence / Analytics / Trends Analysis research to drive new market growth opportunities.
  • Lead, coordinate and follow up activities cross Business Areas, cross functional and cross regional.
  • 50% Account Management of existing OEM business
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and customer contacts in engineering, purchasing, and other key strategic areas
  • Manage all financial KPI’s, customer reimbursement, and program measurables for existing accounts.
  • Able to manage complex book of business including both: 1) Maintenance / Account Management of existing customers and 2) Strategic New Customer accounts
  • Contribute to the development of the sales forecast/Business Plan.
  • Coordinate with Innovation teams to drive opportunities with strategic new customers.
  • Manage all commercial aspects of assigned customers include both Tier 1 and OE accounts.
Education Requirement(s)
  • BS technical degree (or equivalent) is required. MBA degree a plus.
Experience Requirement(s)
  • Interest to develop state of the art Lighting Systems with knowledge of complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • High level of emotional intelligence.
  • Automotive Experience (5-10 years) with proven track record at Tier 1 / 2 supplier within Technical Discipline: Engineering, Program Management or Technical Related Sales role
  • Prior experience interfacing with automotive industry, including demonstrated experience in managing customer expectations.
  • Experience working with GM / Stellantis a plus.
  • Strong ability to plan, organize and set priorities and deliver long term profitable growth
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to put strategy into action.
  • Strong ability to understand customer goals & constraints with ability to articulate clear solutions and influence customer behaviors.
  • Excellent business, commercial and technical understanding, and capability to adapt to a dynamic and innovative environment.
  • Motivated by the challenge of aggressive goals; comfortable with ambiguity; demonstrates personal integrity.
  • Strong industrial knowledge of Automotive Operations and Manufacturing as it relates to the overall business case.
