Job Description
Job Details
New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.
Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.

  • The roles could include robotic system concept development, publication of novel concepts, and proposal writing for NASA and non-NASA programs.
  • Candidate will support one or more technology development or flight projects. These projects will span research systems for NASA and non-NASA sponsors as well as NASA missions destined for space.
  • Standard duties for these projects include modeling and simulation development, engineering analyses, developing, testing, and implementing vehicle dynamics models, software development, and proposals for future planetary mission activities.
  • You may be working at the individual level with some oversite, as a part of a larger team, or leading a small technical team.
What it takes:
  • Knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas: spacecraft engineering, terrestrial and planetary robotics, multibody dynamics, structural mechanics, computational methods, mechanics of materials, dynamics and vibration, continuum and discrete-element mechanics, control and estimation, machine learning.
  • Candidate needs to be experienced in 3D visualization software development using three.js or OpenGL, and/or in photorealistic images using Blender.
