Job Description
Hadrian — Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies make rockets, jets, and satellites 10x faster and 2x cheaper. Our CEO, Chris Power, discusses the importance of what we're building in this video.

We are a lean but mighty team of 80 (and growing!) people that are passionate about building critical infrastructure to support the nation and the advancement of humanity.

To support our ambitious vision, we have raised > $100M from Lux Capital, A16Z, Founders Fund, Construct Capital, Caffeinated Capital, and more.

About the Robotics Team

The Hadrian Robotics team is dedicated to designing and deploying cutting-edge robotic systems that revolutionize manufacturing facilities. Our focus is on automating repetitive and error-prone tasks while building robust robotic solutions that support lights-out operations. As a founding member of our Robotics team, you will lead various projects involving industrial robot arms as well as mobile robots.

We are seeking a talented Robotic Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, building, programming, and testing systems to automate advanced manufacturing processes. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in both hardware and software, capable of deploying production-ready solutions. As part of our team, you will be challenged to think creatively, solve unique problems, and collaborate with production experts and machining specialists to develop innovative solutions that drive us towards fully automated factories.

In this role you will:

  • Conceptualize and deploy automated factories using advanced robotics
  • Build seamless software services to interface robots with factory management systems
  • Program industrial robots to assemble tools and coordinate manufacturing equipment
  • Design custom robotic end-effectors to manipulate machine shop inventory
  • Integrate third party APIs and software libraries into new and existing systems
  • Incorporate safety systems for automation cells (estops, lockout fences, robot safety interface, etc.)
  • Develop robust, reliable software to control and coordinate robots and other machines

This might be a good fit if you

  • Have experience fielding robot systems, from planning through deployment
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, C, C++, etc.)
  • Are self-motivated and eager to get hands-on and tackle challenges independently while working collaboratively toward identified objectives
  • Knowledge of and familiarity working with industrial robot arms
  • Enjoy working at the intersection of software, electronics, and mechanical engineering
  • Proficient with Solidworks, NX, or other CAD software
  • Are a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
  • Work with a hacker mentality – driven to find answers and solve problems even if it demands reverse engineering systems to get the most out of every feature
  • Want to work on something that positively impacts the Space Industry, the Country, and Humanity's future
  • Are a highly effective communicator when presenting technical information, both verbally and in writing

Nice to have (or excited to learn!):

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering and/or related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience effectively supporting multiple programs, projects, and/or clients
  • Experience with autonomous mobile robots
  • Familiarity with ROS
  • Experience with computer vision and machine learning
  • Experience with RoboDK or other simulation tools
Additional benefits include:
  • Relocation stipend for those moving from outside LA
  • A flexible vacation policy
  • 401k
  • 100% coverage of platinum-grade medical, dental, vision, and life insurance

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
