Summary:
Residency is the phase of formal medical education beginning at graduation from medical school and ending after the educational requirements for the medical specialty certifying board has been completed. Residents are taught and evaluated according to the six (6) core competencies established by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME): Medical Knowledge, Patient Care, Professionalism, Practice Based Learning, Systems-Based Practice, and Interpersonal Communication. Residents are expected to provide responsible, safe, efficient, and compassionate physician practice activities and progressive acquisition of clinical skills consistent with the specialty of designated program; participate fully in assigned educational activities, including conferences, rotations, rounds, didactics, scholarly activity, and advisor meetings; and provide patient care under the supervision of a member of the faculty or other supervising licensed independent practitioner, as assigned by the Program Director.
- Has graduated from a medical school outside the United States and has completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical degree.
- Holds a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a United States licensing jurisdiction in his or her current ACGME specialty/subspecialty program;
- At a minimum, an applicant must meet one of the following qualifications to be eligible for appointment to an program:
- Holds a currently-valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates prior to appointment;
- Graduation from a medical school outside of the United States or Canada, and meeting one of the following additional qualifications:
- Graduation from a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States, accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA);
- Graduation from a medical school in the United States or Canada, accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME);
An applicant must demonstrate the following English language proficiency to the satisfaction of the Program Director:
- All residents will be certified in and perform ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ALSO protocol where required during patient care.
This job will be authorized 80.00 hours bi-weekly.
