Research Project Management Specialist

Overview

The Okeoma Lab invites applications to an immediate opening for a Research Project Management Specialist. Our research focuses on understanding the biology and functions of extracellular particles, including extracellular vesicles (EVs) and extracellular condensates (ECs). Our work extensively involves cell culture, biochemistry, transcriptomics, and proteomics.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Lab data management program and manage Lab MTAs
• Serve as first-line approver of purchase requests for the Okeoma Lab.
• Will assist lab members with obtaining required approvals for research involving biohazards, recombinant DNA (IBC), animals (IACUC), and human subjects (IRB)
• Budget for and manage weekly lab supply inventory and purchasing as needed.
• Will help perform data analysis including analysis of Omics data and prepare manuscripts
• Ensure adherence to all appropriate safety regulations
• Daily research operations of a biomedical research laboratory in the NYMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology, & Immunology.
• Will assist in preparing grant proposals and research progress reports on funded grants.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform bioinformatics analysis of Omics data.
• Ability to program in Microsoft Excel
• To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
• PhD or equivalent degree in any Biomedical/Life Science or Health Related Fields is required.
• Previous experience with Omics data analysis would be an advantage.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, and clients.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Physical:

• Ability to work with sensitive materials and scientific equipment.

Environmental:

• May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs.
• Requires standing on the feet sometimes for 5 to 8 hours.
• May perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing and gloves, and possibly a respirator.
• Basic sciences wet laboratory setting
• May at times require working with or being in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.

Minimum Salary

USD $58,500.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $80,000.00/Yr.
