Research Associate

Scope:

Apply organic and medicinal chemistry skills in the design and synthesis of novel small molecules as potential drug candidates.

Responsibilities:

· Apply organic and medicinal chemistry skills in the design and synthesis of novel small molecules as potential drug candidates.

· Provide valuable laboratory contributions that impact discovery project(s) through route-scouting activities leading to the efficient synthesis of high-priority target molecules and/or solving critical synthetic challenges.

· Closely follow emerging results in biological testing and ADME characterization to contribute to the optimization strategy and advancement of lead candidates.

· Provide support to product development team with experiments such as stability studies, dissolution studies, and impurity synthesis.

· Work collaboratively across scientific disciplines on multiple projects.

· Mentor junior scientists/chemists as Zevra grows.

· Maintain a safe and productive laboratory environment.

· Regularly summarize results and provide progress updates to the chemistry and cross-functional project teams.

· Contribute to the writing of patent applications and study reports.

· Support chemical inventory management and general upkeep of laboratory space and equipment.

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry
• 1 to 2 years’ experience in organic synthesis desired.
• Experience in synthesis, purification and analytical characterization including HPLC, MS and NMR

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift fifteen or more pounds at time.
