The Net Technical Assessment Group (NTAG) within SPA specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). One of those clients is the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)). SPA provides OUSD(R&E) decision support to restore technical overmatch of the U.S. Armed Forces. SPA personnel are deeply integrated into every aspect of the OUSD(R&E) and provide critical support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain technological superiority in the future.
Responsibilities:
SPA seeks a passionate and dedicated professional interested in providing technical, data-driven support combined with strategy-informed operations research analysis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving challenging, unstructured, and time-critical problems in both leadership and supporting roles. The candidate will participate in analyses, assessments, and workshops that integrate technical, operational, and programmatic aspects across various elements of the Department of Defense. Working as a member of one or more focused project teams, the candidate will be responsible for assisting government customers in the analysis of complex technical issues related to science and technology programs, technology forecasting, capability development, and system acquisition. The individual will apply rational, systematic, evidence-based thinking to bring insights to executive decision-makers. There will be opportunities to support a range of customers, leading to continuous professional growth across related areas. NTAG is seeking a candidate who is dedicated to continuously learning, mentoring, and improving the efficiencies of workflows and processes.
Qualifications:
Required
  • Experience assessing potentially disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence or quantum sciences or understanding of defense and security concepts, and knowledge of military operations
  • Ability to understand, analyze, assess, explain, and present complex technology problems and opportunities, and develop executive-level decision support products, including briefing materials and reports
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry or similar technical field and 2-5 years of related experience required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to attain DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Aptitude for applying analytical methodologies to address complex problems, with excellent written and oral communication skills
Desired
  • DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance is highly desired
  • Masters of Science degree in technical field
  • Technical experience to include Agile development methods, design sprints, and UI/UX principles; providing data analytic solutions to customers through Tableau, PowerBI, or Qlik; and/or programming experience in the following languages: Python, C#, JavaScript, R, and SQL
