Job Description
Duties


Primary Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To


  • Ensures the technical rigor and consistency of results.
  • Develops goals, policies, and objectives to develop methodologies, systems, and practices for targeted violence and terrorism prevention.
  • Turns research into practice by driving the team's production policy and research publications on a public health informed approach to targeted violence and terrorism prevention.
  • Coordinates with research partners to drive the creation of an evidence base for targeted violence and terrorism prevention to serve as an underpinning for all mission content.
  • Leverages technical skills to conduct and undertake detailed quantitative and qualitative analytical studies.
  • Forms new research and public health prevention partnerships and makes a call to action to interagency and non-government partners to drive analytic studies that identify targeted violence and terrorism technical best practices.
  • Supervises and provide technical direction and oversight to a staff of approximately 3-6 policy and research analysts.
  • Research, coordinates, and prepares briefing materials for Senior Leaders within the CP3, across the Department, and in coordination with the inter-agency.
  • Reviews and provides summaries and feedback on technical, policy, strategy and operational documents.

  • Must be currently at the grade level of the detail. *No Temporary Promotion Opportunity*
  • Must have supervisory approval to apply to the Joint Duty Assignment. DHS 250-2 Application Form under "required documents" section.
  • Must be a current permanent Federal employee
  • The program does not apply to members of the Military service or contractors.
  • Must NOT have any pending/outstanding disciplinary actions


Qualifications


Qualifications required


  • Ability to express and present ideas regarding topics to the team through both written and oral communications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proactive and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Comfortable with routinely shifting demands.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Current GS-15 Supervisor
  • Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Experience building and/or researching evidence-based approaches to targeted violence and terrorism prevention and/or violence prevention.
  • Ability to grasp new subjects and ideas quickly and thoroughly.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with technical subject matter experts.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work with various stakeholders both in the Department and externally.

Selected applicants for a JDA are requested to fulfill the items below during the JDA:
  • Complete the DHS Joint Duty Assignment Progress Plan to include:
  • Phase 2: Complete a self-assessment of the duties performed at the mid-point of the JDA.
  • Phase 1: Establish assignment objectives within the first 30 days of the JDA.
  • Complete the DHS Training Course 15 days prior to the arrival to the JDA.
  • Phase 3: Complete a final review within the last 30 days of the JDA.
