Research Assistant (Remote Sensing Data)

Hiring Company is seeking a Research Assistant in support of Marshall Space Flight Center ’s Land Use/Cover Change Science, Research and Products in Asia and World task . The candidate should have experience in land use/cover change research and applications. The main responsibility of the researcher will be to map, monitor, and address land use/cover changes and their impacts on diverse spatial scales. The researcher will help in the pre-and post-processing of remotely sensed data using various tools such as Python, Matlab, and remote sensing software. Additionally, the candidate will help with the deliverables and science reports. The researcher will have opportunities to support and develop their research interests.

The position is initially for a year and might be extended for an additional year based on performance.

Required Qualifications

• Very good programming and data analysis skills in Python, MATLAB, IDL, or similar. Experience in image classification using machine/deep learning algorithms.
• Strong background in remote sensing data analysis in the land or atmospheric data processing. Experience handling large remote sensing data on urban, agriculture, forestry, agriculture, vegetation fires, etc.
