Posting Summary


The primary purpose of the Research Assistant, Per Diem position is to assist with data collection and programming support to fulfill the needs of faculty conducting population science research. This position reports to the CPODS Shared Resource Manager.


Among The Key Duties Include


  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’s compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Interest policy.
  • Assists in the development of databases and data dictionaries for research projects.
  • Attends and contributes to study team meetings to provide updates on data-related tasks and flag issues with ongoing data collection or analysis.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.
  • Supports programming of surveys in software programs such as RedCap, as directed by the program manager and director.
  • Supports data collection, data cleaning and management for investigators conducting cancer-related research, according to PIs’ instructions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • As directed, communicates with primary data collection staff to resolve discrepancies in recorded data.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science.
  • 1+ year of research experience in a health-related field.


Certifications/Licenses


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Strong willingness to learn and experience being a team player.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with statistical analyses of health-related projects.
  • Bilingual oral and written skills (Spanish/English).
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of survey programs such as RedCap or Qualtrics, and statistical analysis software packages, such as SPSS or SAS .
  • Experience analyzing EHR data.
