About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Research Analyst to join our Corporate Credit group. This position can be based in San Mateo, CA or New York City, NY.
What is the Corporate Credit Research team responsible for?
Our Corporate Credit Research team performs independent credit research and makes recommendations to our portfolio managers. As a research analyst, you will be a key member of our global credit team, focused on high-yield and investment grade bond issuers within several assigned industry sectors. You will work closely with portfolio managers and analysts in Franklin Templeton offices across the globe, sharing investment ideas, industry insights, and market information.
What are the responsibilities?
  • Perform thorough, well-supported and concise fundamental research on assigned industry sectors
  • Present investment research findings, ideas, and recommendations to portfolio managers
  • Compile data from multiple sources to develop detailed financial models.
  • Discuss and debate fundamental credit views and relative value recommendations.
  • Conduct independent research by speaking with company management and industry contacts.
  • Regularly interact with fixed income team members across regions
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
  • Bachelor’s degree required, an MBA or CFA is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • 3+ years of credit analysis experience covering high yield and/or investment grade industry sectors.
  • Desire to work in a market-driven environment.
  • Ability and willingness to assume coverage of new sectors as team needs evolve.
  • Ability to build detailed financial models.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate financial analysis and recommendations
  • Buy-side experience preferred; will also consider candidates with rating agency or sell-side experience.
Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the salary for this position to range between $180,000.00 to $240,000.00.
