Job Description
Since 1870, the Humane Society of Missouri has been dedicated to second chances. We provide a safe and caring haven to all animals in need - large and small - that have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping animals. Summary: Works throughout the State of Missouri on animal investigations and problems involving individuals, groups, organizations and political sub-divisions by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Respond to statewide investigations. Assist in prosecution of violations. Routine inspections on stables, kennels, livestock auctions, and other animal holding establishments. Attend animal events on assignments. Responds to requests for assistance from St. Louis division municipalities, organizations and/or other animal welfare groups. Maintain records of all open investigations and daily activities. Assist in training Humane Officers and Statewide Investigators. This mission-oriented position requires the candidate to have excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, coupled with the knowledge of responsible pet ownership, and must display a high level of professionalism at all times. Requirements : High school diploma or equivalent; 3-12 months of related education/experience - animal handling or investigative experience. This investigator will mainly serve Northwestern Missouri counties including, but not limited to Putnam County, south to Morgan County and then west to Bates County. T he selected candidate could work out of St. Joseph, Moberly, Columbia or Sedalia areas. Due to the nature of the job, occasional overnights may be required as well as the ability to travel for rescues and disaster relief when needed.
