Registered Nurse - TRANSITIONAL CARE UNIT
All across UW Medicine, our employees collaborate to perform the highest quality work with integrity and compassion and to create a respectful, welcoming environment where every patient, family, student and colleague is valued and honored.
As the region's only Level I Trauma center, Harborview Medical Center is well known for innovations and excellence in trauma care and its centers of emphasis: Trauma, Burn, Neurosciences, AIDS/STD, Center for Advanced Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (CARER), and mentally-and medically- vulnerable populations. Harborview employees are committed to the vital role the institution plays in the immediate community, as well as the entire Northwest region.
The Harborview Medical Center - Transitional Care Unit (TCU) was created as a more efficient way in which to care for our medically stable patients awaiting placement. Our unit was designed to offload an acute care bed and assist our patient population in overcoming their discharge barriers. The Registered Nurse (RN2) in this area will utilize their bedside experience and will administer medications, conduct assessments, provide wound care as well as other RN responsibilities. They also partner with the HMC Hospital Assistant (CNA) to provide safe and effective care. The staffing model in this unit reflects the needs of long-term patients and utilizes different ratios than our standard acute care units.
