UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a Wound/Ostomy Nurse. The UWMC Wound/Ostomy Program RNs provide care for ostomy patients both inpatient and outpatient, and hospitalized patients presenting with a broad spectrum of wounds including surgical, neuropathic, venous, arterial, pressure injuries, and other wounds reflecting a variety of underlying disease processes. Wound/Ostomy RNs provide pre-operative assessment and education of ostomy patients in the outpatient setting as well as postoperative ostomy management in the inpatient and outpatient setting, enhancing the patient and nurse experience across the care continuum. This care is provided in close partnership with Surgical Physician colleagues. The role is highly collaborative yet allows for nurse autonomy. RNs provide expert nursing; systematically assess the need for and the delivery of nursing services that meet patient care requirements, whether delivered directly or by the other nursing staff; coordinate patient care; integrate patient and family education into the delivery of care; assume responsibility for continued professional growth and sharing expertise with other team members.
