Job Description
  • Performs and documents ongoing assessments including observation, physical examination, laboratory/test results, and patient response to procedural intervention.
  • Scrubs to assist with passage of guide wires/catheters.
  • Required: American Heart Association ACLS
  • Maintains an inventory of catheters, balloons, stents guide wires and miscellaneous kits under discretion of the IRL supervisor.
  • The scrub nurse is part of a team comprised of registered nurses, radiology techs and radiologists to perform procedures. The team works together to position the patient, prep and drape the patient for the procedure. The scrub nurse will be required to have knowledge of the IRL nursing role and the IRL scrub role.
  • Incorporates performance improvement recommendations into daily practice.
  • Performs Neuro and Vascular angiographic and interventional procedures.
  • Cerebral angiograms including carotid stent, intracranial stents, aneurysm coiling and AVM repair.
  • Required: BSN or MSN or enrollment in an RN-BSN or RN-MSN program within 1 year of hire and completion within 5 years of hire if hired after July 1, 2012
  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Pediatric, if appropriate for the unit
  • The staff nurse provides direct patient care, collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians and other members of the health care team in the delivery of health care services to the specific patient population. The staff nurse assesses patient's needs, plans care, implements and evaluates patient care in accordance with the patient’s needs based on the nurses knowledge of growth/development, the hospital and nursing philosophy, policies/procedures and standards. He/she demonstrates leadership/management skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth. Position may require working at alternate sites.
  • Anticipates radiologists’ needs by review of preference cards and procuring appropriate supplies.
  • PICC lines, triple-lumen catheters, dialysis catheters and tunneled dialysis catheters.
  • Attends required professional development sessions and staff meetings. If unable to attend, review minutes or discuss proceedings of meetings with peers or managers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Renal Angiograms including PTA/Stent and tumor embolization.
  • Assists radiologist during angiographic and interventional procedures.
  • Loads power injectors with contrast media; prepares for injection.
  • Accepts accountability and participates in problem-solving issues related to quality patient care outcomes.
  • Assists in orientation and training of new scrub staff.

    • Nephrostomy tubes and Ureteral Stents.
    • PICC lines, triple-lumen catheters, dialysis catheters and tunneled dialysis catheters.

    • CT scan-guided biopsies and drainage catheters.
