Description:

Position Summary: The Arabic-speaking navigator will provide support to refugees struggling with adjustment challenges due to a new and developing understanding of American culture and English language. The Navigator will assist refugee clients with navigating medical, mental health and social services systems, accessing additional resources and learning practical skills for independent functioning. The Navigator will partner with our HIAS Refugee Resettlement program for quick referrals and other resettlement agencies to help refugees prioritize mental health wellness and treatment.

Salary Range: $21.00 - $30.00

Hiring Range: $21.00 - $25.00

Responsibilities:

  • Assist RMH staff with completing paperwork and applications as needed, and assist clients with various community resources to include social services, social security, housing, citizenship, ESL, etc.
  • Provide accurate interpretive services to Arabic-speaking clients, mental health staff, medical providers, and community members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Establish supportive and helping relationship with refugee clients.
  • Provide transportation for clients to and from appointments.
  • Provide accurate and thorough documentation of services; track data for grant reporting.
  • Coordinate scheduling of appointments and reminder calls.
  • Attend department meetings as scheduled.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team in mental healthcare setting.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients during appointments.
  • Provide case management services to clients.
  • Help identify and address needs of refugee/immigrant community.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred. College level courses in social sciences, human services, education, or medical field, preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience working cross-culturally and with English language learners, preferred.
  • At least one year of direct service/support in human services.

Other:

  • Bilingual in English/Arabic; knowledge and comfort in mental health and medical terminology, preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize needs.
  • Ability to be non-reactive and non-judgmental concerning personal and emotional information.
  • Ability to give and take direction accurately, efficiently and flexibly.
  • First hand cultural knowledge as a member/leader in local immigrant/refugee community in Colorado.
  • Boundaries.
  • Must have personal vehicle, valid driver’s license with good driving record, and proof of auto insurance.
  • Skilled at facilitating client and family engagement.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills, adhering to professional
