Reference Data Business Analyst/Product Manager

A world-renown hedge fund is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Reference Data Business Analyst/Product Manager to join their dynamic team in New York

Role Overview:

As a Reference Data Business Analyst/Product Manager, you will play a critical role in managing and enhancing reference data infrastructure and ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including traders, portfolio managers, operations teams, and IT professionals, to ensure that reference data processes align with business requirements and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Data Governance and Standards: Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Define and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage, and data quality metrics.
• Business Analysis: Gather and document business requirements related to reference data management and technology. Conduct gap analysis, identify areas for improvement, and propose solutions to enhance data accuracy, workflow efficiency, and automation.
• Project Management: Lead and participate in cross-functional projects related to reference data initiatives. Define project objectives, create project plans, manage timelines, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Process Optimization: Continuously assess reference data processes, identify bottlenecks, and streamline workflows to increase operational efficiency and reduce risk. Develop and implement standardized procedures, controls, and escalation protocols.
• System Implementation and Enhancement: Collaborate with IT teams to implement and enhance reference data systems and tools. Work closely with vendors and external partners to evaluate and integrate new data sources and technologies.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with traders, portfolio managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements, resolve issues, and provide support for data-related queries. Act as a subject matter expert and provide training and guidance on reference data processes.
• Reference Data Management: Oversee the end-to-end management of reference data, including securities, pricing, corporate actions, counterparties, and other relevant data elements. Develop and implement strategies to maintain data integrity and quality across systems and processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of reference data concepts and practices, including securities, pricing, corporate actions, and counterparty data. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 20022, MiFID II, GDPR) is desirable.
• Proficiency in data management and analysis tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, or similar platforms. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
• Proven experience as a Reference Data Business Analyst, Reference Data Manager, or similar role within the financial services industry, preferably in a hedge fund or asset management firm.
