Why does the job exist?
The Receptionists and Information Clerks position assists the CE Unit supervisor and NM DDS with answering inquiries and obtain information for general public, customers, visitors and other interested parties. Provide information regarding activities conducted at the NM DDS, location of departments, offices and staff within the organization. They will also perform routine clerical tasks.
How does it get done?
The Receptionist and Information Clerks responsibilities and duties include answering telephones, routing calls, greeting visitors, providing information and performing routine clerical tasks. The performing of various routine clerical tasks include validation, unassociated documents, assisting with opening and routing inbound and outbound mail, preparing documents to mail, faxing and any other routine clerical tasks as needed by the Agency.
Who are the customers?
External customer service to physicians, psychologists, healthcare facilities, disability claimants and internal customer service to the New Mexico Disability Determination Services and the Social Security Administration.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be able to perform receptionist and clerical tasks of varying complexity throughout the day. Experience using computers and multiple monitors, scanning technology and routing calls through a switchboard is preferred.
Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing and pushing may be required.
