The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Department of Human Services (DHS) merged on July 1, 2022 to form one agency, The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We are seeking a reliable, self-starter to work 40 hours per week at the State Training School (STS) in Eldora, which provides supportive counseling and behavioral health treatment for young men, ages 12-18, who were adjudicated delinquent. The typical schedule is from 2:00 pm to 9 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and 7AM to 4:30 PM Friday and Saturday.

This position does not have direct contact with the students but is responsible for communicating student movement and other critical information to staff on grounds. The basic purpose of the position is to function as the complete communication command post for security, movement, emergencies, and visitors. You must respond to all calls for assistance by relaying the appropriate information in a timely fashion and answer all incoming phone calls. In addition, direct traffic and visitors to the appropriate places.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

The equivalent of one year of full-time experience in general office, sales, reception, tour guide or related work experience which involved direct and regular contact with people;

OR

graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency;

OR

satisfactory completion of a recognized job-related training course at the high school or equivalent level (MDTA, CEP, WIN, etc.) for the required experience.
