Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated commercial real estate Associate to join its rapidly-growing investment platform. Since 2013, the CRE Debt Team has successfully invested ~$10 billion across four investment vehicles. The platform has historically been focused on investing in floating-rate transitional first-mortgage loans secured by major property types in key markets throughout the United States. They have recently launched multiple new investment vehicles which will expand the investment profile to include mezzanine loans, distressed debt, loan acquisitions and participations, fixed rate loans, construction loans, and net lease investments. The candidate will have an outstanding opportunity to develop a broad range of financial, credit, real estate underwriting, analytical, marketing, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities:
- Assisting with creating initial screening memos and final investment memos which will be presented before the Investment Committee
- Assisting with the asset management process and other special projects and assignments as they may arise
- Maintaining the internal transaction pipeline
- Supporting senior members of the team in evaluating potential investment opportunities across various property types and markets
- Interacting professionally with internal credit, legal, and loan origination personnel and externally with borrowers and third-party service providers before, during, and after closing
- Managing credit underwriting and financial analysis of new investment opportunities
- Creating and maintaining financial models and sensitivity analyses
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of professional experience, including significant financial modeling experience. Prior experience in commercial real estate debt, real estate private equity or investment banking preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as industry-specific tools (i.e. Argus, CoStar, etc.)
- Bachelor’s Degree, with prior coursework in finance and economics preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to converse with individuals at all levels including borrowers and third-party providers
